Recite Āyat al-Kursī and Mu‘awwidhāt (Al-Ikhlaṣ, Al-Falaq and Al-Nās) in the morning, evening and before going to bed.

صبح شام، ہر نماز کے بعد اور سونے سے قبل آیت الکرسی اور معوّذات (سُوْرَةُ الْاِخْلَاصِ، سُوْرَةُ الْفَلَقِ، سُوْرَةُ النَّاسِ) پڑھیں

Ṣaḥīḥ Bukhārī: 5748

Background & narration

(i) Abū Hurairah (r.a) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (s.a.w) deputed me to keep Ṣadaqāt (al-Fiṭr) of Ramaḍān. Someone came and began taking handfuls of the foodstuff (of the Ṣadaqah). I took hold of him and said, ‘By Allah (s.w.t), I will take you to Allah’s Messenger (s.a.w).’ Then Abū Hurairah (r.a) described the entire incident and said, that person said (to me), ‘Whenever you go to bed, recite Āyat al-Kursī. (If you do so), Allah (s.w.t) will appoint a guard for you who will stay with you and no Satan will come near you until the morning.’ (When the Prophet (s.a.w) heard the story) he (s.a.w) said, ‘He spoke the truth, although he is an absolute liar, and it was Satan.’ [Al-Baqarah: 255] [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī: 5010] (ii) ‘Ā’ishah (r.a) narrated, ‘Whenever the Prophet (s.a.w) went to bed at night, he would cup his hands together and blow in them after reciting Al-Ikhlāṣ, Al-Falaq and Al-Nās; then he would pass his hands over whatever parts of his body he was able to reach, beginning from his head, face and front of the body. He would repeat this three times.’ [Ṣaḥīḥ Bukhārī: 5748]

(a) حضرت ابو ہریره رضی الله عنه سے روایت ہے انہوں نے کہا آپ صلی الله علیه وسلم نے مجھ کو صدقه فطر کی نگہبانی پر مقرر فرمایا۔ اتنے میں ایک شخص آیا۔ وه لپ بھر بھر کر اس میں سے کھجوریں لینے لگا۔ میں نے اس کو پکڑ لیا اور میں نے کہا میں تجھ کو ضرور رسول الله صلی الله علیه وسلم کے پاس لے جائوں گا، چھوڑوں گا نہیں۔ پھر انہوں نے پورا قصه بیان کیا تو وه کہنے لگا۔ ابو ہریره! جب تو سونے کے لیے بچھونے پر جائے تو آیة الکرسی پڑھ لے۔ صبح تک الله کی طرف سے تجھ پر ایک نگہبان فرشته مقرر رہے گا۔ اور تیرے پاس شیطان نه پھٹکنے پائے گا (ابو ہریره رضی الله عنه نے یه بات نبی صلی الله علیه وسلم سے بیان کی) آپ صلی الله علیه وسلم نے فرمایا اگرچه وه بڑا جھوٹا ہے مگر یه بات اس نے سچ کہی، یه شیطان تھا۔ (البقرة: 255) (صحیح البخاری: 5010) (b) حضرت عائشه رضی الله عنہا نے بیان کیا که رسول الله صلی الله علیه وسلم جب اپنے بستر پر آرام فرمانے کے لیے لیٹتے تو اپنی دونوں ہتھیلیوں پر[قُلْ ھُوَ اللهُ اَحَدٌ‪…‬] اور معوذتین [الْفَلَقْ، النَّاسْ] پڑھ کر دم کرتے پھر دونوں ہاتھوں کو چہره پر اور جسم کے جس حصه تک ہاتھ پہنچ پاتا پھیرتے۔ حضرت عائشه رضی الله عنه نے فرمایا که پھر جب آپؐ بیمار ہوتے تو آپ صلی الله علیه وسلم مجھے اسی طرح کرنے کا حکم دیتے تھے۔ (صحیح البخاری: 5748)

Recite the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah every night.

سُوْرَةُ الْبَقَرَة کی آخری دو آیات (( اٰمَنَ الرَّسُوْلُ بِمَآ اُنْزِلَ اِلَیْهِ مِنْ رَّبِّهٖ وَ الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ ))‪ روزانہ رات کو گھر میں پڑھیں

Background & narration

i. Nu‘mān bin Bashīr (r.a) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said, ‘Indeed, two thousand years before creating the heavens and the earth, Allah (s.w.t) inscribed a writing from which He sent down two verses, with which He concluded Surah Al-Baqarah. Satan will not come near a house in which they are recited for three nights.’ [Sunan al-Dārimī, Vol: 2, 3387] Ṣaḥīḥ ii. Abū Mas‘ūd al-Badrī (r.a) narrated the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said, ‘Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah in the night, they are sufficient for him.’ [Al-Baqarah: 285-286] [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī: 4008]

(a) حضرت نعمان بن بشیر رضی الله عنه سے روایت ہے که رسول الله صلی الله علیه وسلم نے فرمایا: بلاشبه آسمانوں اور زمین کی تخلیق سے دو ہزار سال پہلے الله تعالیٰ نے ایک کتاب تحریر فرمائی پھر اس میں سے دو (ایسی) آیتیں نازل فرمائیں که ان کے ساتھ سورة البقرة کو ختم فرمایا اور ایسا (ممکن) نہیں که یه دونوں کسی گھر میں تین رات پڑھی جائیں اور (پھر) شیطان اس کے قریب آئے۔ (سنن الدارمی، ج: 2، 3387 )صحیح (b) حضرت ابو مسعود بدری رضی الله عنه سے روایت ہے که رسول الله صلی الله علیه وسلم نے فرمایا: سورة البقرة کی آخری دو آیتیں جو کوئی رات کو پڑھ لے وه اس کو کفایت (کافی ہو جاتی ہیں) کرتی ہیں۔ اٰمَنَ الرَّسُوْلُ بِمَآ اُنْزِلَ اِلَیْهِ مِنْ رَّبِّهٖ وَ الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ‪...‬ صحیح البخاری: 4008

Background & narration

Āmir bin Sa‘d (r.h) narrated from his father that he heard Allah’s Messenger (s.a.w) saying, ‘Whoever eats seven ‘Ajwah dates in the morning will not be affected by magic or poison on that day.’ [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī: 5445]

حضرت عامر بن سعد رضی الله عنه اپنے والد سے روایت کرتے ہیں که رسول الله صلی الله علیه وسلم نے فرمایا: جو ہر روز صبح سات عجوه کھجوریں کھائے گا اس دن وه جادو اور زہر سے بچا رہے گا۔ (صحیح البخاری: 5445)

Anas (r.a) narrated that the Prophet (s.a.w) said, ‘The best of things with which you cure your self is cupping.’ [Musnad Aḥmad, Vol: 19, Ḥadīth: 12045] Ṣaḥīḥ

حضرت انس رضی الله عنه سے روایت ہے نبی کریم صلی الله علیه وسلم نے فرمایا: خَیْرُکُمْ مَا تَدَاوَیْتُمْ بِهِ الْحِجَامَةُ۔ جن چیزوں سے تم علاج کرواتے ہو ان میں بہترین علاج سینگی لگوانا ہے۔ (مسند احمد، ج: 19، 12045) صحیح

اَعُوذُ بِاللهِ السَّمِیْعِ الْعَلِیْمِ مِنَ الشَّیْطَانِ الرَّجِیْمِ مِنْ هَمْزِهِ وَ نَفْخِهِ وَ نَفْثِهِ

A‘ūdhu billāhis Samī‘il ‘Alīmi min ash shaiṭānir rajīmi min hamzihī wa nafkhihī wa nafthihī.

I seek refuge in Allah, the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, from Satan, the rejected, from his incitement, from his blowing, and his spittle.

میں الله کی پناه لیتا ہوں، جو سننے والا اور جاننے والا ہے، شیطان مردود سے، اس کی اکساہٹ، اس کی پھونک اور اس کے وسوسے سے (تین بار)

Sunan Abū Dawūd: 775 Ṣaḥīḥ

Background & narration

Abū Sa‘īd al-Khudri (r.a) narrated, ‘When the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w), got up to pray at night (i.e. Tahajjud prayer) he would say the Takbīr (Allāhu Akbar) and then say, ‘SubḥānakAllahumma wa bi ḥamdika wa tabārakasmuka wata‘ālā jadduka wa lā ilāha ghairuk.’ He would then say, ‘Lā ilāha illAllahu.’ three times, then ‘Allahu Akbar Kabīran’ three times and then I seek refuge in Allah, the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, from Satan, the rejected, from his incitement, from his blowing, and his spittle. he would then recite (the Qur’ān).’ [Sunan Abū Dawūd: 775] Ṣaḥīḥ

حضرت ابو سعید خدری رضی الله عنه بیان کرتے ہیں که رسول الله صلی الله علیه وسلم جب رات کو قیام فرماتے تو تکبیر کہتے پھر یوں کہتے [سُبْحَانَکَ اللّٰھُمَّ وَ بِحَمْدِکَ وَ تَبَارَکَ اسْمُکَ وَ تَعَالٰی جَدُّکَ وَ لَا اِلٰهَ غَیْرُکَ] پھر کہتے [لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا الله] تین بار پھر کہتے [اَللهُ اَکْبَرُ کَبِیْرًا] تین بار پھر فرماتے، اَعُوذُ بِاللهِ السَّمِیْعِ الْعَلِیْمِ مِنَ الشَّیْطَانِ الرَّجِیْمِ مِنْ ھَمْزِهِ وَ نَفْخِهِ وَ نَفْثِهِ۔ میں الله کی پناه لیتا ہوں، جو سننے والا اور جاننے والا ہے، شیطان مردود سے، اس کی اکساہٹ، اس کی پھونک اور اس کے وسوسے سے۔ اس کے بعد آپؐ قراءت فرماتے۔ (سنن أبی داؤد: 775) صحیح

اَعُوْذُ بِاللهِ الْعَظِیْمِ وَ بِوَجْهِهِ الْكَرِیْمِ وَ سُلْطَانِهِ الْقَدِیْمِ مِنَ الشَّیْطَانِ الرَّجِیْمِ

A‘ūdhu billāhil ‘aẓīmi biwaj-hihil karīmi wa sulṭānihil qadīmi minash shaiṭānir rajīmi.

I seek refuge with Allah the Great, with His Noble Face and with His Eternal Authority from Satan, the rejected.

میں عظمت والے الله کی پناه لیتا ہوں، اس کے عزت والے چہرے اور اس کی ازلی بادشاہت کے ساتھ، شیطان مردود سے

سنن أبی داؤد: 466 صحیح

Background & narration

Ḥaiwah bin Shuraiḥ said, ‘I met ‘Uqbah Ibn Muslim and said to him, I have heard that you have narrated a ḥadīth on the authority of ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr bin ‘Āṣ (r.a) that when the Prophet (s.a.w) would enter the Masjid he would say: I seek refuge with Allah the Great, with His Noble Face and with His Eternal Authority from Satan, the rejected. He said, ‘Is that all?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘So when you say that, Satan says, ‘he has been protected from me for the rest of the day.’’ [Sunan Abū Dawūd: 466] Ṣaḥīḥ

حضرت حَیْوَةَ بن شریح کہتے ہیں که میں عقبه بن مسلم سے ملا اور ان سے کہا که مجھے یه بات پہنچی ہے که آپ عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص رضی الله عنه کی سند سے نبی صلی الله علیه وسلم سے بیان کرتے ہیں که آپ صلی الله علیه وسلم جب مسجد میں داخل ہوتے تو کہا کرتے تھے اَعُوْذُ بِاللهِ الْعَظِیْمِ وَ بِوَجْھِهِ الْکَرِیْمِ وَ سُلْطَانِهِ الْقَدِیْمِ مِنَ الشَّیْطَانِ الرَّجِیْمِ۔ میں عظمت والے الله کی پناه لیتا ہوں، اس کے عزت والے چہرے اور اس کی ازلی بادشاہت کے ساتھ، شیطان مردود سے۔ انہوں نے کہا: بس اتنا ہی؟ میں نے عرض کی: ہاں۔ انہوں نے کہا که انسان جب یه کہہ لیتا ہے تو شیطان کہتا ہے که آج سارے دن کے لیے یه مجھ سے محفوظ ہوگیا۔ (سنن أبی داؤد: 466) صحیح

لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِیْكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَ هُوَ عَلٰی كُلِّ شَیْئٍ قَدِیْرٌ

Lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahu lā sharīkalahu, lahul mulku wa lahul ḥamdu wa huwa ‘alā kulli shai’in qadīrun. (100 times a day)

There is no true deity except Allah; the One and Only; there is no partner associated with Him; to Him belongs all Sovereignty and to Him belongs all Praise, and He over all things is Always All-Powerful. (100 times a day)

الله کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں، وه اکیلا ہے اس کا کوئی شریک نہیں، اسی کے لیے بادشاہت ہے اور اسی کے لیے سب تعریف ہے اور وه ہر چیز پر قدرت رکھنے والا ہے (دن میں سو بار)

Background & narration

Abū Hurairah (r.a) narrated Allah’s Messenger (s.a.w) said, ‘Whoever says: There is no true deity except Allah; the One and Only; there is no partner associated with Him; to Him belongs all Sovereignty and to Him belongs all Praise, and He over all things is Always All-Powerful. one hundred times a day will get the same reward as emancipating ten slaves, and one hundred good deeds will be written in his account, and one hundred sins will be deducted from his account, and it (his saying) will be a shield for him from Satan on that day till the evening, and nobody will be able to do a better deed except the one who does more (i.e. says it more) than he. [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim: 6842]

حضرت ابو ہریره رضی الله عنه سے روایت ہے که رسول الله صلی الله علیه وسلم نے فرمایا: جس نے ایک دن میں سو مرتبه یه کہا لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِیْکَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْکُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَ ھُوَ عَلٰی کُلِّ شَیْئٍ قَدِیْرٌ۔ الله کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں، وه اکیلا ہے اس کا کوئی شریک نہیں، اسی کے لیے بادشاہت ہے اور اسی کے لیے سب تعریف ہے اور وه ہر چیز پر قدرت رکھنے والا ہے۔ تو اس کو دس غلام آزاد کرنے کا ثواب ملے گا اور اس کے لیے سو نیکیاں لکھی جائیں گی اور اس کی سو برائیاں معاف ہوں گی اور اس دن شام تک وه شیطان کے شر سے محفوظ رہے گا اور روزِ قیامت اس سے افضل عمل کوئی نه لائے گا مگر وه شخص جس نے اس سے زیادہ بار یہی کہا ہوگا۔ اور جس نے دن میں سو مرتبه کہا سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ تو اس کی خطائیں معاف کردی جائیں گی خواه وه سمندر کی جھاگ کے برابر کیوں نه ہوں۔ (صحیح مسلم: 6842)
