Background & narration
A Companion رضي الله عنه narrated that he was riding behind the Prophet ﷺ when the mount stumbled. He said, "May the devil be destroyed." The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Do not say, 'May the devil be destroyed,' because when you say this, the devil grows as large as a house and says, 'It was by my power that this happened.' Instead, say: ٠ بِسْمِ اللّٰہِ (In the name of Allah), because when you say this, the devil shrinks until he becomes as small as a fly." ]Sunan Abi Dawood: 4982[.
٭ ایک صحابی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نبی کریم ﷺکے پیچھے سوار تھا ۔ آپ کی سواری کو ٹھوکر لگی تومیں نے کہا : شیطان برباد ہو ۔آپ نے فرمایا : ''شیطان برباد ہو،نہ کہو کیونکہ جب تم ایسا کہتے ہو تو شیطان گھر جتنا بڑاہوجاتاہے اور کہتا ہے :میری طاقت کی وجہ سے ایسا ہوا ہے۔ اس کی بجائے کہو: ٠ بِسْمِ اللّٰہِ۔ کیونکہ جب تم ایساکہتے ہوتوشیطان چھوٹا ہوجاتاہے یہاں تک کہ مکھی کے برابر ہوجاتاہے ''۔ [ سنن أبی داود: 4982]
