15. Surah Al-Hijr

وَ لَقَدْ كَذَّبَ اَصْحٰبُ الْحِجْرِ الْمُرْسَلِیْنَۙ ﴿٨٠﴾Open ayah 15:80 in the Quran reader

Surely the people of al-Hijr 45 also rejected the Messengers, calling them liars.

وَ اٰتَیْنٰهُمْ اٰیٰتِنَا فَكَانُوْا عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِیْنَۙ ﴿٨١﴾Open ayah 15:81 in the Quran reader

We also gave them Our signs, yet they turned away from them.

وَ كَانُوْا یَنْحِتُوْنَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُیُوْتًا اٰمِنِیْنَ ﴿٨٢﴾Open ayah 15:82 in the Quran reader

They used to hew out houses from the mountains 46 and lived in security.

فَاَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّیْحَةُ مُصْبِحِیْنَۙ ﴿٨٣﴾Open ayah 15:83 in the Quran reader

Then the Blast caught them in the morning

فَمَاۤ اَغْنٰى عَنْهُمْ مَّا كَانُوْا یَكْسِبُوْنَؕ ﴿٨٤﴾Open ayah 15:84 in the Quran reader

Whatever they had been earning proved of no avail.

وَ مَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ الْاَرْضَ وَ مَا بَیْنَهُمَاۤ اِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ١ؕ وَ اِنَّ السَّاعَةَ لَاٰتِیَةٌ فَاصْفَحِ الصَّفْحَ الْجَمِیْلَ ﴿٨٥﴾Open ayah 15:85 in the Quran reader

We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is in between them except with Truth. 47 Surely the Hour will come. So, (O Muhammad), do graciously overlook them (despite their misdeeds).

اِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ الْخَلّٰقُ الْعَلِیْمُ ﴿٨٦﴾Open ayah 15:86 in the Quran reader

Your Lord is indeed the Creator of all, the All-Knowing. 48

وَ لَقَدْ اٰتَیْنٰكَ سَبْعًا مِّنَ الْمَثَانِیْ وَ الْقُرْاٰنَ الْعَظِیْمَ ﴿٨٧﴾Open ayah 15:87 in the Quran reader

We have indeed bestowed on you the seven oft-repeated verses 49 and the Great Qur'an. 50

لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَیْنَیْكَ اِلٰى مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهٖۤ اَزْوَاجًا مِّنْهُمْ وَ لَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَیْهِمْ وَ اخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ ﴿٨٨﴾Open ayah 15:88 in the Quran reader

Do not even cast your eyes towards the worldly goods We have granted to different kinds of people, nor grieve over the state they are in, 51 but turn your loving attention to the believers instead,

وَ قُلْ اِنِّیْۤ اَنَا النَّذِیْرُ الْمُبِیْنُۚ ﴿٨٩﴾Open ayah 15:89 in the Quran reader

and clearly tell the unbelievers: 'I am most certainly a plain Warner.'

كَمَاۤ اَنْزَلْنَا عَلَى الْمُقْتَسِمِیْنَۙ ﴿٩٠﴾Open ayah 15:90 in the Quran reader

Even as We had sent warning on those who had divided their religion into fragments;

الَّذِیْنَ جَعَلُوا الْقُرْاٰنَ عِضِیْنَ ﴿٩١﴾Open ayah 15:91 in the Quran reader

those who had split up their Qur'an into pieces. 52

فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْئَلَنَّهُمْ اَجْمَعِیْنَۙ ﴿٩٢﴾Open ayah 15:92 in the Quran reader

By your Lord, We will question them all

عَمَّا كَانُوْا یَعْمَلُوْنَ ﴿٩٣﴾Open ayah 15:93 in the Quran reader

Concerning what they have been doing.

فَاصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَ اَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْمُشْرِكِیْنَ ﴿٩٤﴾Open ayah 15:94 in the Quran reader

(O Prophet!) Proclaim what you are commanded, and pay no heed to those who associate others with Allah in His divinity.

اِنَّا كَفَیْنٰكَ الْمُسْتَهْزِءِیْنَۙ ﴿٩٥﴾Open ayah 15:95 in the Quran reader

Surely We suffice to deal with those who scoff at you;

الَّذِیْنَ یَجْعَلُوْنَ مَعَ اللّٰهِ اِلٰهًا اٰخَرَ١ۚ فَسَوْفَ یَعْلَمُوْنَ ﴿٩٦﴾Open ayah 15:96 in the Quran reader

Those who set up another deity alongside Allah. They shall soon come to know

وَ لَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ اَنَّكَ یَضِیْقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا یَقُوْلُوْنَۙ ﴿٩٧﴾Open ayah 15:97 in the Quran reader

We certainly know that their statements sorely grieve you.

فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَ كُنْ مِّنَ السّٰجِدِیْنَۙ ﴿٩٨﴾Open ayah 15:98 in the Quran reader

When (you feel so) glorify your Lord, with His praise, and prostrate yourself before Him,

وَ اعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتّٰى یَاْتِیَكَ الْیَقِیْنُ۠ ﴿٩٩﴾Open ayah 15:99 in the Quran reader

and worship your Lord until the last moment (of your life) that will most certainly come. 53
