IslamOne ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights — for the IslamOne mobile app, the IslamOne web app at islamone.app, and our website at get.islamone.app.
In short: you can use IslamOne without an account and without sharing anything personal. If you choose to sign in, we store only what's needed to keep your bookmarks, reading positions and settings in sync. We never show ads and never sell or share your data for advertising.
1. The Mobile App
The IslamOne mobile app (iOS and Android) works fully offline and does not require an account. It does not:
- Require account registration or sign-in
- Collect your name, email, phone number, or precise location
- Show ads or share data with ad networks
- Make in-app purchases or charge any fees
All Quran, Tafseer, Hadith, and other content is stored on your device after installation.
To keep the iOS app reliable, it uses Google Firebase for anonymous usage statistics (Firebase Analytics), crash reports (Crashlytics) and app configuration (Remote Config). These services may process device identifiers (such as an app-instance ID), app and device information, approximate location derived from your IP address, and crash details. This information is not linked to your name or email and is used only to understand how the app is used and to fix problems. See Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. The Android app does not use these services.
2. The IslamOne Web App (islamone.app)
2.1 Using the web app without an account
You can read and listen to everything without signing in. Your preferences (theme, fonts, translations, reciter), bookmarks and reading positions are stored only in your browser (local storage) and are not sent to us.
2.2 Optional account (sign in)
You can choose to sign in to keep your bookmarks, reading positions and settings in sync across devices. Sign-in is provided by Google Firebase Authentication, using either your Google account or a sign-in link sent to your email (no password). When you sign in, we store:
- your email address, your name (as provided by Google, if you sign in with Google), and the sign-in method;
- an internal account ID, and the dates your account was created and last used;
- your synced reading data: bookmarks, reading positions ("continue reading") and display settings.
We use this information only to provide sync across your devices and to secure your account. Signing in with Google gives us your name, email address and profile picture link; we do not get access to your Google account, contacts or other data. Firebase sends sign-in emails on our behalf from [email protected].
2.3 Usage statistics (only with your consent)
If you click Allow on the "Help improve IslamOne" message, the web app uses Google Analytics (via Firebase) to collect anonymous usage statistics: pages viewed, approximate location (country/city level), device and browser type, and how you found the site. This uses cookies (named _ga…). If you click No thanks — or don't answer — no analytics script is loaded and no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy → Usage statistics; switching it off also removes these cookies.
2.4 Reporting a mistake
If you use Report an issue (for example on an ayah), we store your report: the ayah, the type of mistake, what you wrote and suggested, the text you were shown, the platform and interface language, and your browser type. If you are signed in, the report is linked to your account so you can follow it under My reports. An email address is optional; we use it only to reply about your report. To prevent abuse we keep a one-way coded value derived from your IP address, not the IP address itself. Reports are read only by the IslamOne team.
2.5 Server logs and security
Like every website, our servers receive technical information with each request: your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and your browser type. We use it to keep the service secure (for example, to block abuse), to fix errors, and to see overall traffic. These logs are kept for up to 90 days and are not used to profile you.
islamone.app is delivered through Cloudflare, which provides security (protection against attacks and bots) and speeds up delivery. Cloudflare processes your IP address and request data for this purpose: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.
3. Our Website (get.islamone.app)
The get.islamone.app website (app information, blog and FAQ) uses Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data. This may include:
- Pages visited and time spent on the site
- Country-level location (not precise location)
- Browser type and device category
- Referral source (how you found the site)
This data is anonymous, never tied to an individual, and used solely to improve the website. Vercel's privacy practices are described at https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
4. Third-Party App Stores
When you download IslamOne from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, those platforms may collect their own data (device identifiers, download records, crash reports) under their own privacy policies:
- Apple Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
We do not control or receive this data.
5. How We Share Information
We never sell your information and never use it for advertising. We share it only with the service providers that run IslamOne for us, and only as needed:
- Google (Firebase) — sign-in, sign-in emails, and (with consent) web analytics; app analytics and crash reports.
- Cloudflare — security and delivery of islamone.app.
- Vercel — hosting and anonymous analytics for get.islamone.app.
We may disclose information if required by law.
6. Where Your Data Is Stored
Account and synced reading data are stored on our own server. Sign-in records are kept by Google Firebase. Cloudflare, Google and Vercel may process data in several countries, under their own safeguards for international transfers.
7. How Long We Keep It
- Account and synced data: until you delete your account (see section 9).
- Backups: account data is backed up daily and backups are kept for 30 days, so deleted data disappears from backups within 30 days.
- Issue reports: as long as needed to review and correct the content. If you delete your account, your reports are kept without the link to your account and without your email address.
- Server logs: a limited period (see 2.5).
- Web analytics (if allowed): 2 months (Google Analytics data retention).
8. Children's Privacy
IslamOne is suitable for all ages and is widely used by families. Everything works without an account. The optional account is intended for users aged 13 and over; younger children should sign in only with a parent's or guardian's permission. If you believe a child has given us personal information without such permission, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your Rights and Choices
- Use without an account: everything works without signing in.
- Delete your account: signed in on islamone.app, open your account menu → Delete account. This immediately deletes your account and all synced data from our servers and removes your sign-in record (issue reports you sent stay, without your account or email address). Data stored in your browser stays until you clear it.
- Withdraw analytics consent: Settings → Privacy → Usage statistics (web), at any time.
- Access or correct your data: contact us and we will send you a copy of the data linked to your account, or correct it.
- If you live in the EU/UK or a similar jurisdiction, you also have the right to object to or restrict processing, to data portability, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
Legal bases (for EU/UK users): your consent for web analytics; providing the service you asked for for your account and sync; and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and working for server logs.
10. Data Security
All traffic to islamone.app and get.islamone.app is encrypted (HTTPS). Account data is stored in a database that the public parts of our service can only read, with separate restricted access for account data. We never see or store passwords: sign-in is handled by Google Firebase, and email sign-in uses one-time links. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
11. Links to Other Websites
The IslamOne website and blog may contain links to external sites (e.g. Google Play, App Store, eQuran Library). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their policies.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will also show a notice on islamone.app. Continued use of the app or website after changes means you accept the updated policy.
